I wish I had a youth group to be proud of... a youth group to call my own and invite people to. But there is NO way that I would invite anyone searching for God to my homechurch youthgroup. We have amazing facilities, but it's just not like it used to be. I remember looking forward to going every wednesday when I was in about 7th or 8th grade. I had high school kids to look up to, but now I don't know who the younger ones are looking up to now.
The lesbians?
The potheads?
I feel horrible about this, and I feel like I am being very judgemental but these teens who are there now... they are in it for the wrong reason. I'm glad that they are getting the experience, but it seems fake to me.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sunday morning service. I would invite everyone and their dog to that.
I'm sorry, this is just me rambling...
I'm just extremely upset about this.

What's happening, I feel like the outsider at my own church.
It's really sad when the kids who go to church on sundays don't even show up to the wednesday services.
I know the feeling. Youth group at my home church has become extinct I'm afraid. Code Blue was a lot of fun, and that really stinks that it's going downhill. Those kids need God badly, but by the way you've described things, they won't be getting Him. I'll be praying.

Blah! Watch it, don't be judgemental. You have no clue why people attened church. You should love them regaurdless. What makes you think they are in it for the wrong reasons. Maybe they take something from it. It doesn't matter if they are lesbians or smoke pot. God loves them the same as everyone else. I'm not going to lie in the past I've learned more from potheads and lesbians sometimes than I did from church.
ReplyDeleteI know you don't mean wrong. I think I know what you are trying to say. I've seen kids seem like they weren't taking much from it at your church, but we can't know whats happeneing inside them. If it's important to you be an example to them.
