My Room mate moved out today. :/ She moved out because the dorm life just wasn't for her and she wasn't ready for it. She's an only child and VERY close to her mom, so as of now she is commuting with her best friend from Nokomis (40 minute drive).
So I now have a dorm to myself, and it is sooo bare. She had bought the microwave and the rugs so I don't have those anymore. Saturday I am coming home for about an hour to grab things to put up in my dorm because to be honest, it's looking sad in there. haha.
The plus side is: I have an extra bed for when people come to spend the night with me :].

Cor 101 Morning Reflection.
At the beginning of every week, my cor 101 professor gives a "morning reflection devotion". Today's was:
How long will it take for you to give more than just your pocket change to God?
New Motto:
Give it all or none at all.

Here.
I'm finally in college! It actually didn't hit me until this morning. I thought maybe I would realize it once my parents left, or when I went to bed. No, not until this morning when I woke up and got ready for my first activity of the day. It's a good feeling. I'm here to figure things out, to live, to learn responsibility.
I am aboslutely in love with the environment here. My Cor 101 class is "Discovering God in Other Cultures" and basically its a class focused on missions. I loved every minute of it, and that was just orientation. We played would you rather in class and that was amazing because usually I play that a lot with that girls back home :]. One that made me feel at home was:
"Would you rather... poop a softball, or pee a marble"
Ha!
Word is going around that the staff is saying that we are the funnest class to come through in a long time. If you had been at the chapel last night when we had residence hall wars, you would know. Burritt won of course :].
Also last night at the chapel the dean of students stood up and gave us the big 4 rules:
1. Don't smoke
2. Don't drink.
3. Don't cuss
4. Don't have sex.
After saying the fourth rule he said, Gentleman- These ladies over here are not objects. Every guy on the football team stood up and clapped, which then triggered the rest of the guys. It was so wonderful.
I'm in the right place. I'm in a christian institution and I love it. I love being able to hear the professor talk about what Christ wants from us and nobody being offended. I love praying before class with the rest of the class.
Greenville is a wonderful home.
Also! My roomie is really cool, we get along great :]

The past two times I've had to hug Melanie goodbye have been so hard.
Tonight was the last time I'll hug her for a while.
Tomorrow morning will be rough too :/

Bittersweet.
Last night was amazing, and I'm sorry that not everyone got to experience it.
I'm on such a high right now though and I want to share it, in hopes that no one gets upset or offended that they didn't get invited.
It was a night for the "Nerd-Herd" to get together one last time before we all leave. Jake leaves for college tomorrow :/. One word to sum it up: bittersweet. I haven't had a great night like that since the float trip and I just don't want this to be over.
The plan was to have a bonfire, and then sleep under the stars. Well, we never got a fire started because Daniel doesn't know what he's doing. ;]. Jake decides that we all need to share our favorite high school memory. This is the start of a night that I will never forget. Each one of us went around sharing our favorite memories and sharing laughter.
All of a sudden Jake says, "We should go geo-cashing!" It's about 10 at this point. So we all piled into the bed of Daniel's truck and drove down Grange Hall Road. Highly Illegal- So much fun. All of a sudden we realize we're on a highway! We all duck as we see a car coming up behind us and laugh until we can't breathe and then get back on the country roads. We never made it to the geo cash site because it was going to take too long to get there and we would've had to take the highway.
We get back to Derek's land and they all decide that we should go to Snake Road. Snake Road= Haunted. There's all sorts of legends about this road and it's really tempting for teenagers to go mess around out there. The story goes: you go out to the old boarded up church and knock on the door, then to the cemetery and start yelling at kids to quit playing in the cemetery, and then go to the bridge and put your car in neutral. The kids are supposed to push your car across the bridge.
Remember, I am so easily scared and I didn't like this one bit.
We get out to the old boarded up church and Derek and Russell get out of the car just to talk in the parking lot. A car drives by and the driver yells out the window and says, "Get the f*** out of there you motherf***ers!" Instead of just leaving Russel wants to know why they really want us to leave and goes to knock on the door. Then all of a sudden Derek says, listen. I'm assuming he heard people talking and then he looks across the field and there are people standing there. We all jumped in our cars and peeled out. Meanwhile, all this is happening, I'm in the back hatch of kristen's car curled up into a ball almost in tears.
Instead of just leaving once again they go to the cemetery. Nobody would stay in the car with me and there was no way that I was going to stay there by myself. I ran out there and ended up tripping and tackling Jennifer, haha. Jake found it disrespectful to be messing around in a cemetery at night and so He, Melanie, Kristen, Jennifer, and I go back to Kristen's car. Kristen gets out and leaves the door hanging open and all of a sudden Melanie says, "Oh my gosh.. what is out there" and starts freaking out. My first initial reaction, and I don't know why, was to jump OVER the back of the passenger seat and just flop onto the ground in the back seat. They all start laughing and I soon realize that Melanie just really wanted to scare me.
We left after the other boys got back from "exploring". We finally got back to Derek's land for good and we got out our sleeping bags and laid under the stars. Until 4 a.m. From midnight until 4 in the morning we just talked and laughed until we cried.
Melanie and I woke up at 5:30 to relieve ourselves and then we couldn't fall back asleep after that.
During the night, I had a conversation with Jake and he was talking about how sad it was to leave. We all hadn't been able to hang out together since the float trip in July and it was beginning to seem like a distant memory. Then we all got together again last night and now it's so fresh that it hurts to leave it all behind.
I cried for the first time about leaving this morning with my mom.
I was thinking about how badly I'm going to miss all of them.
I was thinking about the phone call with Josie yesterday. She said, "Man, I'm going to miss you".
I'm going to miss this.
I can't believe it's coming to an end. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely excited to start college, but starting this means ending that and I don't want to give it up yet.

I miss Joe. I miss being able to just vent to him without feeling bad about pouring everything out on him. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for you girls, but everybody around me is dealing with something or another and I don't want to add to their problems by throwing out my own.
But I do have my own, and I am struggling too. Maybe not as much as others, but struggle is struggle.
I'm scared too.
I don't miss Joe as he is now. I miss who he was. Every time we talk for just a little bit one on one the old Joe emerges. The Joe that would notice if I was upset and try to make it better.
My best friend.
Who is he now?

Dang.
Today was spent trying to figure out a bunch of college crap. My tuition was supposed to be paid in full as of today. I sent my acceptance letter to the scholarship committee of the Selma J. Hartke Scholarship in July. I called today to check on it and see if it got sent to Greenville yet.
No.
Apparently they never received my information. That was 1500 unaccounted for on my bill. And then I find out that the only copy that I had of my immunization records wasn't copied before it got sent to the college. The college never received it.
Those two things were sent out on the same day- so I don't know what the heck happened.
I've gotten all of that figured out since then, the scholarship committee is going to send out the check today and I found another copy of my immunization records and faxed it over.
Now I have to pay $150 for books that I don't have. I've already bought 6 of the books, and now the other 3 cost 150. That's money i don't know how I will come up with.
GREAT.

a time of change.
I found out yesterday morning that Pastor Jeff and Jenny are leaving our church. Yesterday's service was their last service with us, as they feel led to go to a different ministry in St. Louis. This was the first I had heard of this. I admire Pastor Jeff so much, I really do. He's a firm believer in my missions calling and he would give me advice, and burn c.d.'s with stories from other missionaries.
At the end of the service it was a time where everyone could go up and greet them, say their goodbyes, and be on their way. When I got up there I started to cry.
I was hugging Jenny and she said,
"I love you, don't worry we'll be back for a visit"
"I don't know why I'm getting so emotional.."
"Because Megan, everything's changing around you. You graduated high school, you're leaving home, you're beginning college."
I couldn't even say anything else, she pin pointed the problem.
The thing is, this time of change isn't just happening for me either. Almost everyone around me is going through, and dealing with change. It's scary. But with change comes new opportunities and new beginnings. Which leads me to a great story.
Last night I was at Jennifer's and we took a blanket outside and looked at the stars. We both prayed out-loud as something came to us and it was just a time of worship to our God and we had so many prayer requests. I had just finished talking to God about the changes going on in everyone's life. I was questioning why everything was happening. I finished and then Jennifer began, and as soon as she said, "Lord..." the brightest, and the biggest, and the longest shooting star I had ever seen passed overhead. I realize that shooting stars happen every night, but as soon as we see this star we begin to laugh, and then we cry.
It was as if God was saying, "I'm here and I'm listening". I could feel Him and this presence was overwhelming.
Throughout our prayers we each saw 8 shooting stars.
8, in the bible, is the number of new beginnings.
I went into that with such a burden on my heart for everyone and their struggles. I went into it questioning, and I was hurting as well.
I came out of that with hope and peace.
In the chaos and the confusion, He is sovereign still.
Who knows what the future will bring? Even through this hard time, God is there. He's holding our tears, and He knows every worry and every heartache. It's a part of life. I feel in my heart, and with all of my being, that God has great plans for all of us. Even through these troubling times, He's shining through. You just have to look, and be willing to see something good.
