This evening I went caroling with a youth group I'm now in. We went to a rehabilitation center in Jerseyville to sing Christmas songs to the elderly people there. A lot of the residents couldn't leave their rooms to come listen so as we are leaving we sang "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" down the halls.
We're almost to the end of the hall and a woman, and what looked like her son, came to us. The woman said, "Can I ask you guys a big favor? Will you sing Silent Night to my mom in room 415?" She began to cry and her son puts his arm around her. We say, "Of course we will." All 14 of us walk in and the room is filled with people surrounding a bed. There was a man sitting right beside the bed who was holding her hand and never took his eyes off of the woman in the bed.
We begin to sing; the people begin to cry. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. I teared up too, and I didn't even know these people. We finished our song and the woman walks to us and says, "Thank you so much. This is her last Christmas, and this is the last song we wanted her to hear."
Wow.
We were there at the oppurtune moment, to give this lady who will soon pass her final song, and what a wonderful song for the moment. God really used us tonight. I'll never forget this.
Harrison told me about that. That's so amazing. I wish I could have been there
