I got accepted to Greenville!
I already knew that last week, but I just got the letter today in the mail. I didn't know that I would be getting a spiffy certificate too! I'm a Dean's Scholar too, which means I get 6,000 off a year. That's pretty freakin' awesome. I'm getting really excited now, I can't wait for college.
I'm also reading Catcher in the Rye at the moment. Of course it's a class requirement, but I love it. I want a copy of my own. Holden is so real, and so funny. I haven't ever laughed out loud for real over a book before, and this one has me laughing all the time.
My friend Chris from camp always says, "You're a gentleman and a scholar". It's from this book, and I never knew it before.
I'm really liking my psychology class too, it's hard-work but it's so interesting. I guess it's a good thing I'm going into psychology in college, ha ha.
Today was also See You At The Pole. We had a really awesome turn out too. I think it's amazing that so many people from so many different schools across the nation got out at to pray at their schools. It makes you realize that you aren't alone in this world. There are other people who believe in something great just like you. We formed a circle and held hands and took turns praying out loud. Despite all the people who were coming into school. It's really awesome to be a witness.
I'm feeling pretty jumpy (if you couldn't tell.)
Josie's coming over, and we are going to church!
Church and Josie; two of my favorite things.
:D
I'm unfamiliar with Catcher in the Rye, so I just went and breezed over the wiki article. I found this part kinda funny, it was talking about how parents have been trying to ban it in schools throughout the years
ReplyDelete"Shelley Keller-Gage, a high school teacher who faced objections after assigning the novel in her class, noted that the challengers 'are being just like Holden ... They are trying to be catchers in the rye.'"
You should read it!
ReplyDeleteI felt really dumb today because I was looking at the cover of my book and realized that it was Catcher IN the rye, and I posted it Catcher AND the rye like a dummy.
Oh, I do want to read it. It's been on my list for the longest time. Don't you hate it that you had to wait for senior year until your school finally started having you read books that are actually good?
ReplyDeleteEvery single book I read for school before my senior year was terrible. But then once I became a senior, we were assigned things like Hamlet, and Brave New World, and Frankenstein, and the Great Gatsby, and Of Mice and Men, and The Once and Future King... pretty much the most beautiful and brilliant shit I have ever read. If they'd STARTED with good stuff, maybe so many people wouldn't hate reading. I hope this wasn't just my district. Or else I would hate you.
We read Of Mice and Men sophomore year, we had some pretty good books.
ReplyDeleteI hated great expectations though, but we read the outsiders sophomore year too, which is a really good book.
